HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

BLUETOOTH

Bluetooth technology is accepted world wide, and has been implemented as a standard having been adopted by more than 2,000 manufacturers.

PROS:
- You can use Bluetooth on laptops, mobile phones, music players, headsets, printers and a host of other products.
- Bluetooth technology is cheap to implement for the companies resulting in lower costs to the consumer. The technology itself is license free, and so does not cost a penny in data charges.
- Unlike infrared, Bluetooth isn't a line of sight technology (so is not affected by obstacles), and it comes with ranges of up to 100 metres (for class 1 devices).

CONTRAS:
-When using Bluetooth Internet, the connection can sometimes run very slow.
- Infrared technology can have data rates of about 4 MBps, which delivers very fast rates for data transfer, whilst Bluetooth only has up to 2.1 MBps.
- Battery use - although Bluetooth has a low power consumption, using this technology will use up more battery power if left on; a concern in devices such as mobile phones.

RECENT INFO. about Wikileaks

London (CNN) -- Though its founder is cooling his heels in a London jail and major credit-card firms have refused to process its donations, the website WikiLeaks continued to trickle out documents from its vast cache of sensitive U.S. diplomatic cables Wednesday.
WikiLeaks' supporters in the computer-hacking community turned their ire against organizations that had cut off the site. Among the targets were the website of Sweden's national prosecutor's office, which is seeking the extradition from Britain of WikiLeaks' creator and editor-in-chief, Julian Assange.
Assange is wanted for questioning in connection with a sex-crime allegation in Sweden and surrendered to British authorities Tuesday. He has not been charged, and says the allegations against him are part of a smear campaign.

CHINA's Google

Google China was founded in 2005 and was originally headed by Kai-Fu Lee, a former Microsoft executive.
Since announcing its intent to comply with Internet censorship laws in the People's Republic of China, Google China had been the focus of controversy over what critics view as capitulation to the "Golden Shield Project". Due to its self-imposed censorship, whenever people searched for prohibited Chinese keywords on a blocked list maintained by the PRC government, google.cn displayed the following at the bottom of the page (translated): In accordance with local laws, regulations and policies, part of the search result is not shown.

Some searches, were blocked entirely, with only the message "Search results may not comply with the relevant laws, regulations and policy, and can not be displayed" appearing.
Google argued that it could play a role more useful to the cause of free speech by participating in China's IT industry than by refusing to comply and being denied admission to the mainland Chinese market.
Google.cn transiently turned off its search result filtering. However, the filtering was later re-enabled without any acknowledgment or explanation; search queries in Chinese on the keywords Tiananmen or June 4, 1989 returned censored results with the standard censorship footnote.

GOOGLE

Google is a corporation that compiles information and makes it searchable via the Internet. Google's stated mission is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful," but this mission, and the means used to accomplish it, have raised concerns among the company's critics.

The policies and practices for which Google has been criticized include its use of others' intellectual property, concerns that its compilation of data may violate people's privacy, censorship of search results, and the energy consumption of its servers.
Much of the criticism of Google pertains to issues that have not yet been addressed by ciber law.

WIKILEAKS

WikiLeaks is an international organization that publishes submissions of otherwise unavailable documents from anonymous sources and leaks. Its website, launched in 2006, is run by The Sunshine Press.
I think this page is very useful, because it shows the mistakes that people make, and things that would be kept in secret forever. I also think that it is very reliable, because the information that people send to WikiLeaks, is proved by people if they are true or not.
I think this page can make a difference in our world, because if, for example, people see the videos of  the mistakes that the American army does in the Iraq War, they can make demonstrations against this, and War can end.
WikiLeaks can be good, because it can stop the war (the videos of the page show mistakes), but also it can be bad, because it can show the American strategy which they use in war, and "rebels" can see this and attack them.

WIKI- NOT WIKIPEDIA

Today, Dan has told us some interesting information about Wikipedia, an internet platform where people put information about people, happenings... Otherwise, a WIKI is a website whose pages can be edited by multiple volunteers through the web browser. Users can create, modify or delete a single

text they share.
I think Wikipedia is a very useful page, where you can find a lot of things, but also, you can find a lot of pointless and false information, but
I AM GOING TO USE IT!!!
See you L8R, your friend Paul.

TWITTER

Hi friends,
today Dan has told us how Twitter works. I think it is a cool website, but I don't think that I'm going to make my own account, because it takes a lot of time to make your "twitts" and because there are a lot of pointless things on it.
There are also some PRO's, like that you can have a lot of information about things that have happened recently. :)

Your friend PAUL.
